Reversing past pledges not to intervene in his son’s legal troubles, US President Joe Biden on Sunday pardoned Hunter Biden, who was facing sentencing for gun and tax convictions. The outgoing president said his son’s prosecution was a politically motivated “miscarriage of justice”. Republicans have criticised the move, which came in the final weeks of Biden’s presidency.
